Steven Johnson Architect is a multi-disciplinary Architecture & Interiors firm with over 20 years experience with custom homes, additions, renovations and outdoor living.

We are a licensed Architecture firm also specializing in small scale commercial construction, tenant upfits, and change of use projects.

We are experts in the Design-Build project delivery method and enjoy sharing construction administration experience and the pit falls of the construction process in general.

The firm was founded in 2008 by Steven J. Johnson, AIA. Elizabeth Lufbery joined the firm as our lead Interior Designer in 2023.

Owner and Principal Architect.

Steven has over 23 years of residential and commercial design/build experience in the Triad.

Bachelor of Architecture, Kansas State University, 2000

Licensed Architect, North Carolina, 2008

Licensed General Contractor (exam qualifier), North Carolina, 2011

His work has won awards with Preservation Greensboro and has been featured in the Greensboro Builder's Association's Tour of Remodeled Homes, Parade of Homes, Preservation Greensboro's Tour of Historic Homes, the News and Record, Yes Weekly, and the Rhino Times.

Steve's specialty is Design-Build and CM @ Risk project management; working on the Owner/Developer side of the table, hiring Architects and local contractors EARLY in the design process.

Specializing in Custom Homes, Commercial Code Research and Change of Ue, Hospitality, Wellness, Single Family and Multi-family Residential, Healthcare, Continuing Care Retirement Communities or Life Care Communities, and site work.

Steven speaks and interprets Owner, Developer, Contractor and Architect languages fluently.

Interiors

Elizabeth Lufbery

Elizabeth Lufbery has over 12 years of experience in interior design located in South Florida and Western Tennessee. She also worked to complete projects located in Upstate New York and Bimini, Bahamas. Bachelor's of Science in Interior Design from Florida State University.

Elizabeth has worked most of her career designing luxurious vacation homes for international clients. She has created spaces that feel intentional, thoughtful, and calm and others that feel polished, exquisite and elite. From problem solving to fine details, she's managed it all.

She has recently become a mother to two sweet and fiery little ones. This has quickly doubled her skills in crisis management, scheduling, and emergency snacks. Although new to the Triad area she and her family are eager to make this their forever home.
